Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Finished electrical engineering in 1984, served military service and started working in 1985 as an all-round electrical engineer in the petro-chemical and ship repair, textile and paper industry.
Worked my way up through various technical jobs and started working in sales in 1995. Initially in product sales and from 2000 in project sales for the port industry.
After working 8 years as a sales manager for Cargotec Finland Oy I started my own sales and marketing consultancy network. The main focus is to execute sales and purchase equipment in the ports business, working for operators as well for OEM.
Having a steady growing network, an electrical background, a good understanding of international contracts and additional commercial and financial documents and a natural Dutch comprehension for multi-cultural aspects.
20 years sales experience on all continents, I have a global network with contacts on multiple management levels. I have experience dealing with customers (global operators, government and private port), port consultants, local dealers, equipment suppliers, electrical system suppliers and system integrators.
I have a good understanding of the main competitors in port crane business for STS, RMG and RTG cranes. ZPMC, Liebherr, Konecranes, MES, Mitsubishi, Doosan, Terex, Cargotec, Paceco, Kocks.
Understanding international tenders (e.g. FIDIC), contracts and additional commercial and financial documents. I have experience negotiating with global operators, government owned and private owned customers, banks, intermediate banks and financial institutes. I conduct commercial training for sales departments, analyzing, understanding and overcoming technical, commercial and financial risk.
